In an exciting development, we’re very proud to announce a strategic partnership with the NECA (National Electrical and Communications Association).

Fergus and NECA are united in their mission to enhance the lives of tradies by streamlining work processes, prioritising safety, and ensuring adherence to regulations. This strategic partnership with the NSW, ACT, QLD, and TAS branches is a significant milestone in their shared journey towards achieving this mission.

Empowering NECA members

Todd Shipp, General Manager of Member Services for NECA in NSW, ACT, QLD, and TAS, emphasised the importance of supporting contractors in improving onsite safety while simplifying regulatory compliance.

“Supporting contractors to improve onsite safety while streamlining their regulatory compliance is essential to building long-term successful electrical businesses”

This partnership promises to bring an array of enhanced benefits to NECA’s members, equipping them with the tools necessary to optimise site operations and bolster safety measures. By combining NECA’s extensive industry knowledge with Fergus’s innovative software solutions, electrical contractors will be better prepared to manage the inherent hazards of their high-risk work.

David Holmes, CEO of Fergus, highlighted their shared goal of assisting trades businesses. He stated, “At Fergus, we understand how hard it is to run a trades business because that’s where Dan Pollard, founder of Fergus, started. We’re excited to partner with NECA to help more electrical businesses cut their administrative burden, become more profitable, run safer workplaces, and build healthier cashflows. It’s amazing to work with the peak body for electricians in Australia that shares our goal of helping solve problems for trades businesses. We look forward to helping NECA members for many years to come.”

Digital Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)

The collaboration will give NECA members exclusive access to Digital Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) forms within Fergus. NECA members can complete SWMS forms onsite using the Fergus mobile app or via desktop. This move is essential, as SWMS plays a pivotal role in high-risk construction work, and Fergus aims to make the implementation and monitoring of control measures more efficient.

Todd Shipp states “Our members told us they wanted NECA resources integrated into their day-to-day operations, and we’re excited to partner with Fergus to use technology to save them hours of administration costs.” Todd Shipp.

“Bringing SWMS into the digital age will be a game changer for tradies; this move promotes safety and efficiency by reducing the amount of administration involved in projects.

Australian electricians are required to complete SWMS to ensure they operate in compliance with legal requirements, proactively identify and mitigate risks, protect the safety of workers, facilitate communication, maintain documentation, and enable continuous improvement in safety practices. SWMS are a critical component of maintaining a safe and productive work environment in the electrical industry.
