Fergus, an established job management platform provider for growing trades businesses, has appointed David Holmes as Chief Executive Officer to spearhead the company’s growth in Australia and beyond.
Holmes has over 20 years of experience in the digital industry across Asia Pacific. Most notably part of the team to launch eBay downunder in 1999, and helping found and grow Australia’s largest digital agency, Isobar.
His success driving business growth and leading investor relations is what set him apart from a high calibre pool of candidates. Holmes was instrumental in growing CarAdvice from #8 to #1 in new car audience in Australia and then selling it to Nine Entertainment (ASX:NEC). He also sits on the Board of HR SaaS platform JXT and global social commerce platform Tell Me Group as Chairman.
The appointment comes at a time when trades businesses globally are recognising the need for technology solutions to drive greater operational efficiencies. “David's experience building teams and expanding go-to-market capabilities compliments Fergus’ longstanding product leadership. Under his direction we look forward to continued market share growth in Australia and beyond" comments Howard Leibman, early Fergus investor and a director on the board.
Fergus is the creation of Dan Pollard, plumber turned tech entrepreneur and former CEO. Having done the hard yards as a plumber for over 20 years, Pollard was determined to come up with an easier way to manage the end-to-end operations of his trades business. Pollard’s intricate industry knowledge and passion for helping tradies realise their own true potential has been the backbone of Fergus’ success to date.
“We’ve reached a point where we need someone like David to take the reins. We want to help even more trades businesses globally and he brings a growth focus that will allow us to do just that. My job now is to continue to represent the tradie within Fergus and help David as much as I can” says Pollard.
Holmes is impressed with what the team at Fergus have achieved since their inception in 2012. “I’m passionate about businesses from this part of the world with a legitimate path to global expansion. Fergus is a rare find that fits this description. Its purpose is inspired, its people are amazing and customers love the product.”
Fergus is making its presence felt in the Job Management Solution market. Holmes says, “Already servicing thousands of tradesmen and women globally, Fergus is well positioned to accelerate its growth in Australia and beyond. I can’t overstate how excited I am to join the team.”

About Fergus:
Fergus was founded in 2012 by experienced tradesman Dan Pollard as a SaaS platform, focused on transforming how the trade industry does business.
Fergus is a cloud-based platform enabling end-to-end operations management for small to mid-sized trades businesses. Its core features include real-time workflow and staff communication, as well as tools for quoting, scheduling, time sheets, invoicing, GPS, workforce tracking, health and safety features and resource planning.
The business, which is headquartered out of New Zealand, services over 9000 tradesmen and women around the globe. A $3.5 million AUD investment by Microequities Venture Capital Fund in 2017 has enabled the company to maintain a dominant market share in New Zealand, accelerate growth in Australia, as well as gain traction in other key international markets.
